Things to consider before and during the show:
  • Details count. Review your booth. Keep your space organized and neat.
  • Create an experience! It is important that a customer that comes at the end of the show has the same experience as one at the beginning of the show.
  • Have a professional looking space (Example: professional price tags).
  • Don't pack your booth, sometimes less is more. Back stock does not always need to be displayed.
  • Have plenty of business paperwork (business cards, brochures, flyers, etc).
  • Keep a guest book or do a raffle, collecting information on your customers can help you with follow-up after the show.
  • If you love how your booth turns out take a picture! It is fun to watch your booth evolve over years doing events.
  • Look around and network! Your neighbors have ideas you may not have entertained, be professional pick their brain!
  • If you have a name tag, wear one! Some occasions A Turn of Events will provide a name tag if you do not have one.

Things to consider about yourself during the show:
  • Be clean and smell good.
  • Be well dressed and professional.
  • People don't just buy, they expect an experience. Provide that come back experience. Inform and educate.
  • Don't smoke or drink alcohol in your booth.
  • Don't sit behind your booth and read and expect to sell! Interaction is when sales are best.
  • Don't leave your booth for long periods of time, even with someone watching your booth, they may not know your product like you do.

The "do" list:
  • Read all the information your are sent from your coordinator.
  • Be on time.
  • Smile and interact!
  • Stay open entire advertised time. Packing up early sends a negative vibe to not only customers, but your fellow vendors.
  • Display a positive attitude at all times. This is in consideration of everyone. A negative tone can fill a room quickly!
  • Present a professional, neat appearance at all times. Did you know grooming trumps your wardrobe in sales? Have it all together? THAT'S THE KEY!
  • Make your space inviting! (Stand up, make eye contact, mirror your customers (see below), greet customers)
  • Network in a professional manner, remember we are here for our attendees, chat with your fellow vendors in down time and maintain professionalism.
  • Tidy your display multiple times during a show - remember the first and last customer should have the same experience.
  • Make yourself aware of the other products being displayed at the show so you can help if someone is looking for a product you might not sell.
  • Help each other out! We are here together to make a great experience for our customers, you may have came alone, but you're not alone.
  • Get your name out there! Send anyone who walks by your booth home with something. No sale now, doesn't mean it wont lead to a sale later.
  • If there is a conflict, DO resolve it with organizers or vendor in a professional manner, remember you represent your company as well as Go Savvy Social.
  • Take conflicts away from the floor.
  • Be willing to work.
  • Bring a display that is suitable for the size of your booth space, no larger.

Matching and mirroring for an excellent sales experience!
Mirroring is a great way to develop a rapport with your customer. Mirroring is exactly how it sounds, following your customers mannerisms to develop rapport. Have you ever found yourself talking to a good friend and all of a sudden you are sitting the same way or your hands are in the same position? Since we are not always the best developing relationships in a setting where as vendors we have to be outgoing and connect with our customers, mirroring is a great way to develop a connection with each customer that visits your booth. Here's how it works: take a few seconds when a customer walks up to look them over. Do they have questions or are they just looking? How does their personality seem outgoing or quiet? Does it look like they might be interested in talking to you?

For first timers this might seem out of the ordinary, but try practicing on your friends or acquaintances. Is there someone is your life that is quite loud? Try being loud too, see a chemistry shift? Now turn it around with a quiet friend. Mixing with someones personality makes them feel at ease. We love ourselves, adjust your behavior to suit your customer. Mastering mirroring lies in you making your customer feel like she's talking to an old friend. Once you have mastered that you have mastered mirroring!

Ps. We love to talk about ourselves open your ears and listen to what your customer is saying and expand on their stories and excitement.

Keep your security in mind:
  • We always want to assume the best of everyone around us, but stay alert and cautious.
  • Keep money on your person, not laying out for everyone to see.
  • Accept credit cards, this will lower your risk for cash on your person (www.squareup.com).
  • It is recommended to remove any valuables from your booth in the event of a multi-day event.
  • Don't leave tempting items out in the open (cameras, cell phones, computers, cash boxes, etc).
  • Lock your vehicle!
